Carly's Story

Carly Angott is an Emmy nominated video producer & editor from Metro Detroit. From an early age, Carly had a love for all things creative. It wasn't until she was gifted a camcorder for her 11th birthday that a whole new world opened up for her. She wrote and filmed comedy sketches with her friends for fun, even teaching herself how to edit in order to enhance the production value of their videos. As the years went by, Carly continued to make videos. She excelled in school, always seeing things with a more creative lens. In high school she found a way to avoid mundane class assignments by asking if she could make video projects instead. Her teachers were impressed by her work; she was relieved she didn't have to make power point presentations.

Carly attended Eastern Michigan University, where she was very active in their Journalism & Media Studies department. There she learned how to write, produce and direct broadcasts and films. She was particularly involved in the school's broadcast channel ETV, where she worked on hundreds of student broadcasts. She also helped create the school's videography club, Videographers of EMU, or VEMU for short. She's thrilled to see that after 7 years, the club is still going strong.

Carly began her post college career as a Producer/Editor for the Detroit Pistons, and she remains with the team to this day. There she produces, shoots and edits videos for social media, internal purposes and external groups. She has spent the last 6 years documenting Detroit's resilience and growth behind the camera, and in the midst, has developed a love for public service.

At the end of the day, Carly's goal is to make a positive impact through her work in some way, shape, or form. That's enough about her story. Let's tell yours!
